To go into SCRATCHBOX use the following shortcut - 
2 then CLIPS this brings up the fixing page.
(Note the Edifis out A must be connected with a cable to the Edifis in A.

You have your sequence in the Edifis and it is the loaded clip.
Find 1st frame you want to fix and press FIXup. light the COMP and PAN softkeys. Using the pen brush out the blemish (the pen produces a matte which wipes in some of the background channel (usually 1 frame behind)

To draw a straight line mask between two points eg to cover a vertical scratch,- hold the button on the side of the pen and tap the point of the pen on the start point of the line you want to draw. Still holding the side button tap the point of the pen on the end point of the line. A straight line mask is now produced with width as per the pen brush settings.
Rectangle or Bar shaped mask.
Reectangle. Press Rect/Bar softkey and select a startpoint with the pen, the cursor becomes large and you can now drag the rectangle to the desired size.
To return to painting, press the button on the pen.
Bar. to draw a bar press CLR the Rect/Bar softkey. Select a vetical position on the screen. A point below the centre will draw a bar at the bottom of the screen and a point above will draw a bar at the top.
Again press the button on the pen to return to painting mode.

You can press MASK to see the mask,  COMP to see mixer out, or FGND to see the un-altered foreground.
The background picture can be slid in any direction behind the matte - just press PAN and use the PEN  to slide the bgnd picture. (use this facility if your vision is panning on the shot you want to repair.). If you press the PAN button a second time you get a 50%, Full frame mix so you can see where the hell you are.

The backround picture can also be moved in time, ie jogged forwards or backwards - usefull if repairing 1st frame of a shot or just to choose a better match of shot. Press "JOG B" softkey and use the pen to move the backgroung video forwards or backwards (dont try and use the transport controls)

If you want to erase all of the matte then press CLR then MASK or you can rub out bits of it using the other end of the pen.
If you are happy with your repair save it by pressing GRAB.

Each FIXup repair puts a mark on the timeline.
You can jump betwwen these using STOP, > and STOP <

To change enter a number and hit the softkey below the parameter.
Good settings are Size 2, Intensity 9 and Weight 10
