Recording a DVD on the Philips DVD Recorder Press MONITOR to view m/c input Use REC MODE to select recording compression. This cycles between the following ;- HQ - 1 hour SP - 2 hours SP+ 3 hours EP - 4 hours EP+ - 6 hours To record press RECORD or REC/OTR and to stop recording press STOP If you do the above, each time you record you will record a new TITLE When you have made your recording(s) you can name your CHAPTERS and you can name your DISC as well. Eg to name the DISC Select DISC INFO, "settings for" appears Select "Disc name" using arrow keys, confirm with right arrow key to go into disc name Now left and right arrow keys select the letter to change and up/down arrow keys select the letter you want (SELECT toggles between upper and lower case and CLEAR deletes a character. When you have made your name save it by pressing OK Use LEFT ARROW to get out of name mode. When you play back a title the machine will have put in chapter markers at intervals of about 11 mins automatically. You can if you want erase these chapter markers and insert markers of your choice. To do this press EDIT and use FAVOURITE SCENE SELECTOR menu When you have done everything you want to the disc you have to FINALISE it FINALISING A DISC Press DISC INFO then RIGHT ARROW, "settings for" menu appears Go up to the box above the first title and select "FINALISE DISC" using arrow keys and cofirm with OK The machine displays "this will take x sec" Confirm with OK, "working " now appears on the screen and m/c tells you when it has finished Forced Finalise of a disc If a disc is corrupted then you can force finalise it which may make some of it usable Eject disc but leave it sitting in the drawer Press and hold "4" on the remote control until the machine closes the drawer and finalises the disc.
