First keyframe usually decides smoothing. START first and last steps passed thro' last step is either set by a stop or IS the last step. START 2 as above but with ON but ALL steps passed thro'. STOP used to end a START if placed on a step following a START. Turns smoothing OFF if placed on a step. CONT continues previously set trajectory. TRAJECTORY CONTROL. this controls wether the Acc of the picture is linear or smoothed.(only 1st and last steps are subject to acceleration). All linear - put STOP on all steps ------------------------------------ ROTATE ACCELERATION. This allows Acc of rotational part of effect to be set seperately from the movement Acc. ON-OFF set ACC at start of rotation and deceleration at end. ROTATE sets a constant speed of rotation i.e. NO Acceleration. ROTATE ON accel at start , NO decel. ROTATE OFF decel at end, NO Acel at start. ------------------------------------ TENSION. (RATE soft D). Tension controls the interaction between two rotations on different steps. If set to ZERO, 1st rotate will finish before second one commences. If set to max (499), 1st rotate will be half- way through before 2nd one is started. To use, TENSION ACCEL must be set to ON-OFF ------------------------------------ To get wipe matte available for shapes etc. In WIPES set Exposure and Border to get a large dollop of wipe matte. Cogs decide whether the audio and vid go to the same drive -better to use different drives. 44.1 KHz is good. ---------------- To Rx Audio from a non t/c source eg CD In digitise settings make sure "always record T/C from an AVID controlled deck" and "always digit T/C from the source" are NOT checked. Then in digitise dont select T/C - it will now Rx it's own internal TOD. If you click on Deck symbol it goives a window where you can type eg "CD" then it wont want a roll number. When you name the clip you could call it eg "Brass Band 1". --------------- "CTRL ALT DELETE" is SHIFT, R then S, Return. --------------- RESTORE WINDOWS TO DEFAULT POSITIONS click on the window to highlight it then APPLE KEY + 4 wayarrow key (or use "home" in one of drop down menus) Audio Sampling rate is in TOOLS/COMPRESSION -------------------- To select DIGITAL AUDIO IN -bring up audio tool then Hold down "OPTION" Key while clicking on the button to the right of the loudspeaker icon - now can select input = digital. ----------------- STRIPING a pair of drives. Highlight the group then click "install",(can have partitions of various sizes here if want by dragging xxxxMb along pink line). Click INSTALL again, then OK, then INSTALL yet again. Also need to go into Bin Settings, General and un-tick "Filtering based on resolution box... " ---------------- SLOMO. Eg if have rendered something and slomo is crap, Match frame to bring motion effect to source monitor then match frame again to get orriginal media. remake the slomo and drop in To get good interpolated field slomos when RENDER IN/OUT go to console and type in exactly the following;- MotionFXrendertype 1 then hit return ------------------ DIGICUT To do a digicut as an assemble need to go to DECK settings and tick box "allow digicut as assemble" then you get this option in digicut box ----------------- FREEZE FRAME mark last frame, MATCH FRAME, mark in on source mon Then CLIP , FREEZE FRAME, choose etc. This makes freeze and puts it in source mon. Just edit this onto end. ---------------- WHITE FLASH TOOLS, FX PALLETE, BLEND, DIP TO COLOUR. Drop this onto transition on timeline. It defaults to black so double pink roller it then FX Editor. Set fader colour to white and duration to eg 12fr. Can now grab effect from corner and drop in bin for use elsewhere. --------------- To Output tracks 3+4 seperately for playout. Select direct out on audio mix panel --------------- EDL Output EDL, Highlight eg V1, Update, Options - use 9000-2-2 EDL and eg Preread List, SAVE AS xxx.EDL to eg floppy --------------- SCRUB AUDIO ALT + CLICK on relevant track speaker --------------- GROUP CLIP (called AUTO SYNC on some Avids) Highligt required clips and then GROUP CLIP (it always puts the one with Vis + Aud 1st and then in order clips are in bin-to get order you want lift clips into new bin in reverse order and then group these) AVID 2 -------- Alter T/C on timeline of SEQ eg want to start at 09:59:30:00 Click in RH mon the FILE, CLIP INFO, type in 09:59:30:00 Enter --------- Q of S transfering between Avids Have clean JAZ Disk On source m/c make new bin and copy seq to it. Highlight seq, CONSOLIDATE - set destination as Jaz Disk (may need to mount Jaz using Avid Drive Utility - highlight Jaz, Mount, Close utility) Then copy new bin onto Jaz Disk. Then on destination Avid go to your project and create a new bin. Then "open bin" off Jaz Disk, highlight everything and lift into new bin. Then copy media to one of destination m/c's drives (except database of course). Remove Jaz Disk. ------------- TITLE TOOL Clip, Title launches tool Choose fount, size, colour etc Arrow to move words about (click whithin dot box) Click on edge dot to stretch box etc (need to do this if want to type more letters !) File Save As etc Then pick up title from bin and drop on eg V2 above shot you want (use add edits on V2 to mark) In Effect Editor, KEY, LUMA can set levels and use Pink Triangles to make fade in/out etc. If havre made title and it's in a bin as an icon and you want to modify it.
